[Support] MM USB: USB does not auto-start |
|
|
Product Affected: - MindMapper 2008 USB Edition
Symptoms: - When you plug in the USB, the MindMapper program does not start automatically
Solution:
There are 2 possible problems why the USB does not start automatically. Please try both in sequence.
1) MindMapper USB requires 2 drive letters (i.e. F: and G:) If there is a conflict in drive letters, and the USB device does not get assigned a drive letter, then the USB will not auto-start.
MindMapper USB contains 2 partitions. One is labeled "MMU" and the other is "MindMapperU". Open My Computer and verify you have these 2 partitions. If you do not see one or both of these partitions, then please follow these steps:
1.1 Open Control Panel 1.2 Open Administrative Tools 1.3 Open Computer Management 1.4 Click Disk Management 1.5 Locate the MMU partition that you do not see in My Computer (i.e. MMU) 1.6 Find MMU, right click, choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths", then click "Change" 1.7 Assign a drive letter that is not being used. Trying a lower letter (i.e M, N, L, etc) might offer better possibility 1.8 Close the dialog box and exit out of Disk Management.
Now your USB device should auto-start.
2) Your system might have CD Autoplay feature disabled. You can enable this feature using the System Registry
2.1 Open Registry Editor (Start / Run / regedit) 2.2 In the Registry Editor locate: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom 2.3 value of AutoRun should be 1 If this is 0, change it to 1.
2.4 locate: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\explorer Change NoDriveTypeAutoRun => change to 0x95 (0xFF disables everything)
